Fibroid tumor, also known as uterine fibroid or myoma is a common medical problem associated with women of age range of 35-40 years. They are defined as the benign tumor containing fibrous tissue and can be found in the uterus. Fibroid tumors usually grow up to the size of walnuts and are very uncomfortable for women as they cause extra pressure on the womb. Such tumors can often be noticed in a clump!

Fibroid tumors are generally classified into four groups based on their exact location in the uterus. Intramural fibroids are the most common and grow within the uterus wall. Fibroids located beneath the mucosal layer of the uterus are referred as Subserosal fibroids. Another one called Submucosal fibroids usually can be found inside the muscle underneath the inner lining of the womb wall. Cervical fibroids are again referred to those located in the cervix wall. This classification has been made mainly to identify the possible symptoms of fibroids like painful periods or bleeding, constipation, pain during intercourse and so on.

    • ANSWER:
When it is polypoid or sub mucous fibroid intermenstural bleeding occurs. If the polypus is large the bleeding is profuse and almost continuous. If it is infected the discharge may be with pus and with offensive smell. Red is fresh bleeding and the brown is late bleeding. 2. QUESTION:
What are my choices? Doctors found a FIBROID TUMOR in my uterus.?
Will I have to have a hysterectomy? Is there something else I can do?And could it kill me if I don’t have surgery?

    • ANSWER:
If there are no symptoms and they are not bothering you, they are left alone- otherwise surgery is done. Surgery can either involve a myomectomy in which they are removed, or a hysterectomy. A newer treatment called uterine fibroid embolization can also be done, in which the fibroid is shrunk or destroyed by blocking off the artery that supplies blood to them. You can read more here

  3. QUESTION:
I have been diagnosed with a fibroid tumor in my uterus. Is a hysterectomy my only option?

    • ANSWER:
There is a procedure called Embolization. You may want to mention it to your doctor. My aunt had it done and it worked wonders for her.

  4. QUESTION:
What can be used for dealing with a fibroid tumor?
What type of natural remedy can be used for dealing with a large fibroid tumor? My mother has almost died because she literally bleed to death (menstrauting heavily for months). She became severly anemic with a blood volume level of a mere 3. Normal is 12. She recieved 5 blood transfusions over a 2 month span. They believe it’s all been a result of the fibroid tumor in her uterus. She is trying desperatly to get their insurance company to cover it but they are jerking my parents around calling all of this pre existing and saying they wont cover a dime for any of it including the bills already. My parents are already 100,000 in medical bills. They will not cover the surgery until Nov. of this year. What can be taken naturally in the mean time to help her not have the severe pain and bleeding. Her stomach is so bloated she looks like she’s 5 months pregnant. She always has pain and she always bleeds so bad. I’m worried so badly about my mom. Someone help please!!!

    • ANSWER:
If this were my mother I would take her to the nearest ER in the nearest large hospital, I would choose an Teaching hospital if there’s one near you. They have the best and the most of all the doctors available to you.
Many of these hospitals have benefactors that help the needy and if you ask, they will tell you. We did and they had a large benefactor program they did not advertise.
It took about an hour to O.K. me, and pay all my medical bills for me.
Whether they do or not, they will help. It sounds like your mom needs help right now, not when she can afford it.

  5. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any experience with a fibroid tumor and getting one to shrink just by changing your diet?
I have a fibroid tumor in my uterus that is just growing and growing. It looks as if I am pregnant and it is a complete embarassment. I am not pregnant and I have to try to “hide” my stomach so that people will not stare at it. Justt the other day I had to buy a size 14 dress so that my big belly wouldn’t be so noticeable.
My ob/gyn says that until it becomes a problem we should just leave it alone. It doesn’t hurt or anything it is just very unattractive.
Does anyone have any experience with these from just changing your diet and or taking pills to get them to shrink? I know about my medical options as far as removing my uterus and getting that other thing that cuts off the blood to them but I would like to try it the natural way first. Thanks in advance for all serious answers. Oh i’m 31 years old 5’7 140lbs never had a weight problem before.

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think changing your diet or popping a pill is going to fix the issue… maybe you need to sit down and seriously talk to you doctor about having it removed… I had one the size of a gold ball on my lower right side… it looked awful.. decided to have it removed and realized that it was affecting me in just looks…
