General Motors Weight Loss Diet

Diet is a crucial factor in weight loss but selecting right diet plan is more important. This article emphasize on General Motors Diet plan and how it helps in losing weight.

General Motors Diet, commonly known as GM diet was originally developed for employees and dependents of General Motors, Inc. and was intended for their exclusive use in the 1980’s. The GM diet makers also believed that it would improve attitudes and emotions because of its cleansing effects in the body. The seven day plan is though to burn more calories than the body receives. Theoretically, yes. But the human system is rather is rather complicated. The diet contains no alcohol, compulsorily 10 glasses of water per day.

This specific diet was made for employees of General Motors in the 1980s to hopefully improve their demeanors at work. The way this diet is set up is to cleanse your body of unwanted fats in a week’s period of time.

The way it works is by burning more calories than what your body takes in on a daily basis, using foods to help cleanse your body and help it function better.

As this diet has no known creator, there is no where to turn for questions on why it works, and how these specific food choices were made. However, it is quite clear that this plan has both good and bad points which any man or woman who wish to use it should know about.

Each of these two diet plans can help you lose weight. However, there is no doubt that because the General Motors diet is the more strict program of the two with a low calorie makeup, it is also the one with the lower long term value. You just can’t stick to such a low calorie diet plan for long. The EODD diet, on the other hand, is much less restrictive and so can be used for longer.

You can have a small portion of lean meat. Vegetarians can replace meat with tofu or cottage cheese. You also need to eat 6 whole tomatoes. You may make a sandwich from these two in brown bread. Increase your water intake by 25%. Meat & cheese give the body iron and protein while tomatoes provide fiber, water helps cleanse the system of toxins.

For instance, you do get to eat 4 meals a day while on the FatLoss4Idiots diet. You shouldn’t feel like you’re starving while on this diet. It’s based more on how you arrange your meals and types of calories than on portion sizes. In addition, you actually get to determine a great deal of the diet’s menu by choosing the foods that it will include in a special software that comes with the diet. This gives you more freedom and control and makes the overall plan more personal and easy to stick to.

So in the end, it takes a bit of adjusting to work the GM Diet Plan. Once you have made it through the week you are set. You should feel good about how you look and feel about yourself. If you want to lose more weight you can just repeat the process again. During this whole process just remember to consume at least 10 glasses of water each day. This will be essential to your weight loss for The General Motors Diet Plan. Good luck and happy eating!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can uterine fibroids cause weight gain?
I have a follow up appt with my doctor on Friday to determine if he found uterine fibroids. I just wanted to know if weight gain is a side effect. I’ve noticed in the past year I have had some weight gain but I have not changed any part of my lifestyle including my diet. If anything I eat a little less and healthier. Does anyone know about this?

    • ANSWER:
I think the fibroids in themselves can sometimes get quite large and heavy. It might also pay to get your ovaries investigated for Poly-cystic Ovary Syndrome, which can cause weight gain.

    Weight lost and fibroids?
Ok so I just had a baby boy 10/24/11 by c-section and during my pregnancy i found out I had 3 fibroids, 1 is about 6 cm. They are in the back i’m being told and on the outside of the cavity. My quesion is this 1). If I continue to workout especially my abs will my stomach go down or will I continue to look like i’m pregnant until menapause (dr says menapause is when the fibroids will start to shrink) or will my stomach go down. Also for those of you who had c-section how long did it take your stomach to go back to your pregnancy size? I hope this isn’t confusing
I’m mainly concerned with whether or not I will be able to lose weight with having fibroid

    • ANSWER:
Loosing weight fast is always an unhealthy thing.
The best thing to loose and hold a healthy weight is healthy food, less sugar, lots of drinking water, and sports.
There are many diets who tell you that you can loose a lot of weight in no time. And it is working, but you are doing no good to your body. And there’s also the Jojo-effect.
Diet has to begin in your head. And you already started to think about your nutrition. That’s an important step. It is too easy just to make a magazine-diet for 2-3 weeks and loose some weight. But it will come back soon again. If you are over-thinking your nutrition and activity, you will have a constantly good result. Isn’t that much better and healthier than a crash-diet ?
Good Luck and Take care 🙂

do you usually gain weight if you have fibroids?
I have a fibriod in my uterus, my doctor said my uterus is the size of a 12 week pregnancy ,I am going tues for a hysteroscopy and d/c will these procedures get rid of the fibroid or will i still have to have the hysterectomy

    • ANSWER:
YES!! My Mom swelled up so badly! She lost a lot of the weight after she had her surgery. She opted of Embolization (sp?). They go in thru the artery in your leg & cauterize the viens feeding the fibriods. Her symptoms are gone!!!!! Don’t get a hysterectomy!!!! Good luck.

Is there a way to prevent or reduce the growth of fibroids?
I understand that fibroids are common and once developed, it really doesn’t go away. But is there a way to prevent getting any more of them or having them grow larger? Is there a certain diet or lifestyle that can be contributed to them?

I thought I read somewhere that although it is not a certain cause, fibroids seem to occur often in women who experience weight gain.

    • ANSWER:
Fibroids develop from abnormal cell growth in the uterus (womb). The exact cause of these benign tumors is not known. However, both genetic and environmental conditions have been identified as contributing risk factors for fibroids. A number of factors may increase a woman’s likelihood of developing uterine fibroids. These include:

Age. Although they can occur at any age after puberty, fibroids most frequently appear in women aged 30 to 40 years old. In addition, early age at menarche, especially before age 10, is considered a risk factor for the condition later in life.

Genetics and heredity. Research indicates that many fibroids contain alterations in genes that code for uterine muscle cells. Women who have a mother or sister with fibroids appear to be at increased risk of developing them.

Ethnicity. Fibroids tend to appear more frequently among black women than Caucasians. Also, black women tend to develop fibroids at younger ages, and also typically experience numerous and/or larger fibroids.

Hormonal changes. Research indicates that the hormones estrogen and progesterone appear to influence the growth of uterine fibroids. When a woman with uterine fibroids experiences hormonal changes during pregnancy, the fibroids typically enlarge. However, after childbirth the fibroids tend to shrink back to the original size. In addition, when women stop menstruating (menopause), uterine fibroids usually shrink or disappear altogether. Other studies indicate that hormones that help the body maintain tissues, such as the insulin-like growth factor, may also affect fibroid growth.

High-fat diet and alcohol consumption. Significant consumption of red meats (e.g., beef, ham) and alcoholic beverages, especially beer, is associated with an increased risk of developing fibroids in the uterus.

Obesity. Having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater appears to increase a woman’s risk of developing these benign tumors of the uterus.

There’s really a lot of great information on fibroids – their prevention, treatment, signs and symptoms at the women’s site below. Take a look – I’m sure you’ll find it helpful!
