Surgical Options For Fibroid Cure & Natural Remedies Used In Treatment For Uterine Fibroid

Are there any guaranteed natural uterine fibroid treatment methods? Do methods of natural treatment for uterine fibroids eliminate fibroids completely and for good? These are the questions which came up to my mind when my friend suggested that I go in for nature cure for fibroids instead of conventional medicines.

I did a lot of research on my own to find answers to these questions. What I found was that even though there is no guaranteed natural remedy for fibroids, there are a few methods which can help reduce the size of fibroids. There are natural fibroid cure methods which will ensure that the tumors do not grow further than their existing size. There are natural remedies to provide relief from heavy bleeding that is often associated with uterine fibroids.

Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors usually found in the womb and are common in women of childbearing age. Statistically they appear in about 25% of white women and 50% of black women. Often women have them without knowing about them. In other cases the tumors grow to a size where they cause pain and abdominal swelling. The swelling may make a woman look pregnant.

Fibroids can cause pain at other times too, for example during sex. They can also interfere with pregnancy, either making it difficult to get pregnant in the first place or causing miscarriage, premature birth or bleeding during the pregnancy.

The primary cause of fibroids is considered to be hormonal. Normally during the post menopausal phase they usually shrink on their own or disappear completely.

Doctors normally prescribe surgery to get rid of fibroids depending upon the size and number of fibroid tumors. In the past, the only permanent medical option for treatment for uterine fibroids was hysterectomy. This essentially means removal of an important part of a womans body, the womb. Effectively after undergoing this procedure women would not be able to bear children.

Thanks to advances made by modern medicine now it is possible in many cases to have what is called a myomectomy. In this surgical procedure only the fibroids are removed. If successful, this means that women can still bear children post myomectomy.

In case you have decided not to go in for surgery for fibroid cure you can go in for natural methods of treatment for uterine fibroids. Natural uterine fibroid treatment methods usually focus on diet, exercise and herbal medication to eliminate fibroids naturally.

Dietary changes which you will need to incorporate as part of your treatment plan includes

1.Staying away from dairy products.

2. Consuming 2-3 servings of grains which contain liganin. These include flax seeds. oats, barley, wheat and rye.

Apple cider vinegar needs a special mention here. It is useful in uterine fibroid treatment to shrink fibroids and reduce the discomfort caused by fibroids. In any case unless there is some reason why you should not take vinegar, it will not do you any harm. If you are overweight you may find it has the added benefit of helping you to lose a few pounds. Take one tablespoon three times a day.

Onions and garlic are especially useful in natural uterine fibroid treatment. They are both excellent sources of antioxidants and help in maintaining the hormonal balance. These are best consumed in raw form.

For overall well being and especially for fibroid cure you must engage in moderate form of exercise like brisk walking for an hour each day. In addition to keeping a check on your body weight it will help relieve stress and ease some of fibroid symptoms

    • ANSWER:
      Uterine Fibroids and Pregnancy

A small number of pregnant women have uterine fibroids. If you are pregnant and have fibroids, they likely won’t cause problems for you or your baby. During pregnancy, fibroids may increase in size. Most of this growth occurs from blood flowing to the uterus. Coupled with the extra demands placed on the body by pregnancy, growth of fibroids may cause discomfort, feelings of pressure, or pain. Fibroids decrease in size after pregnancy in most cases.

Fibroids can increase the risk of:

Miscarriage (in which the pregnancy ends be-fore 20 weeks)
      Preterm birth
Breech birth (in which the baby is in a position other than head down)
Rarely, a large fibroid can block the opening of the uterus or keep the baby from passing into the birth canal. In this case, a cesarean delivery is done. In most cases, even a large fibroid will move out of the fetus’s way as the uterus expands during pregnancy. Women with large fibroids may have more blood loss after delivery. Often no treatment of fibroids is needed during pregnancy. If you are having symptoms such as pain or discomfort, your doctor may prescribe rest. Sometimes a pregnant woman with fibroids will need to stay in the hospital for a time because of pain, bleeding, or threatened preterm labor. Very rarely, myomectomy may be performed in a pregnant woman. Cesarean birth may be needed after myomectomy.

      Finally…

Uterine fibroids are benign growths that occur quite often in women. About one in four or five women over age 35 has them. Fibroids may cause no symptoms and require no treatment. If you have uterine fibroids or have had them in the past, you should be checked by your doctor on a regular basis. Getting regular checkups and being alert to warning signs will help you be aware of changes that may require treatment.

    • ANSWER:

  4. QUESTION:
    I have been diagnosed with a 7cm x 9 cm uterine fibroid.?
I am schuelded for a consult to discuss my treatment options. Any input from anyone?? Does this sound like an unusually large fibroid?

    • ANSWER:
In the past, if fibroids caused heavy frequent periods, a hysterectomy was performed especially in women over 35. Now, the fibroid can be removed leaving the uterus intact. It can be surgically removed, burned or frozen. The latest technique is inserting a catheter in the femoral artery and blocking the artery that feeds the fibroid, thus cutting off the blood supply and causing the fibroid to shrink away. With this method there is only a tiny cut in the leg where the catheter was inserted. The patient is usually discharged the next day. All needed info will be given to you during your consult as there are more than a few options available today. Your fibroid is large, but not unusually so.

  5. QUESTION:
    How is a uterine/ovarian cyst/fibroid diagnosed?
Hi guys! I was just wondering, how does a Dr check for a uterine/ovarian cyst/fibroid? Does he/she perform an ultrasound on you, similar to the one done on pregnant women?
Afterwards, what treatment options are available? Can a woman have sex/children afterwards?
Thank you so much for your help!!

    • ANSWER:
If they’re big enough, the doc can feel it during an exam. Then the doc will order an ultrasound and can see it on the ultrasound. For ovarian cysts, the doc will usually do an internal ultrasound–the ultrasound wand is put in your vagina. It’s easier to see small things that way. But for something large, then the doc will do an external ultrasound (on your belly) like they do for pregnant women.

For ovarian cysts, there are 3 things possible to do:
      1) nothing–wait and see if it goes away on its own
      2) birth control pills–see if they make it go away
      3) surgery to remove the cyst

Sometimes cysts interfere with pregnancy, sometimes not. Depends on the type of cyst. Sometimes when removing the cyst, the ovary must be removed too. But you can be fertile with just one ovary.

For uterine fibroids, there are several possibilities. They will never go away on their own.
      1) uterine artery embolization (UAE)–a relatively new procedure to non-surgically shrink the fibroid so it goes away, via blocking the artery supplying it with blood.
      2) surgery to remove the fibroid only–called myomectomy
      3) hysterectomy
With UAE, you can remain fertile. With hysterectomy, you won’t be fertile anymore. And having a fibroid can interfere with carrying pregnancy.
