Symptoms Of Fibroids In Women

Managing Fibroids Symptoms Naturally

Depending on the size and location of your fibroids, you may well have a number of unpleasant symptoms. Doctors very often seem unhelpful when it comes to dealing with this condition because fibroids are rarely dangerous and some women believe that they get less attention than other life threatening conditions.

There are a number of ways of managing fibroids symptoms naturally, in ways which are non-invasive and which may even help with shrinkage.

Fibroids Symptoms

Heavy Menstrual Blood Flow

Vitamins A, C and E together with Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 and Iron can all help, with Vitamin E being particularly good at combating period pain. Ibuprofen can be used to help with heavy bleeding as it reduces inflammation.

Cramping and Pain

Try lying and resting with a pillow under the knees and apply heat therapy. Also, lying on your side with your knees pulled up to your chest can help. Exercise is also known to be therapeutic and is an easy way of managing fibroids symptoms naturally, helping across the board.

Frequent Urination

This is a common problem and is usually caused by a large fibroid pressing on the bladder. Managing the situation is not always easy, but try urinating before leaving the house and wear pads if necessary. Never hold urine in and examine natural ways to shrink fibroids as this will help relieve the pressure.

Constipation and Hemorrhoids

Commonly caused by the fibroids pressing on the bowel. Simple dietary changes can quickly help. Drink at least 2 liters of water daily and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Bulky whole grains and bran will also help with the elimination of waste products.

The lack of comprehensive “real” help for women led an alternative practitioner to develop a complete system for managing fibroids symptoms naturally which mirrored what she taught women in her busy clinic. Her unique, 7 Step Plan has been successfully used by many thousands of women worldwide and for those who are willing to take charge of their own treatment and recognize that they will have to play an active role in their own healing, then this is simply ideal. Frequently Asked Questions

Why would a woman with fibroids with no symptoms have to have a hysterectomy?
I know a girl that was diagnosed with fibroids about 10 yrs ago. She has no symptoms except she says she can not have kids because her uterus is out of shape due to the fibroids. She also says that her doctor told her she needed a hystercetomy but she talked him out of it. She was in her mid-30s when diagnosed. I thought you could still have kids with fibroids unless you were having really bad symptoms.

    • ANSWER:
Obviously she was having really bad symptoms if her uterus is out of shape.

The doctor probably wanted to do a hysterectomy as a preventative measure. Of course it is always the patient’s choice. But her fibroids might grow even more and she might have to have the hysterectomy in the future.

Why are Fibroids so common in women yet doctors do not know what cause them?
Fibroids supposidely affect 30% of women (don’t quote me on that stat but I know the number is very high) (as many as 50 percent of African American women over the age of 35 have fibroids source: ) and doctors know what they are, they know the symptoms, they have some treatment options but doctors DO NOT understand WHY FIBROIDS OCCUR! This is very alarming and frustrating. I think more research should be dedicated to fibroids and their cause. If it was a male problem I suspect so many years would not go by without more research into understanding this fibroid issue which can cause anguish for many woman. Not sure if other countries have a better understanding of fibroids but living in the USA we should have more insight into this very common female problem. Please post any good links or resources found on people doing fibroid research around the world or any helpful links on treatment options especially robotic assisted surgery (da vinci process) for fibroids. Thank you in advance. Happy Women’s History Month! Please share some good information.

    • ANSWER:
    How are fibroids diagnosed?
I am 19 wks 6 days along and I’m going to be going in for my 2nd ultrasound today (It’s the BIG one, yay!) Anyways, I’ve heard of women on here talking about fibroids and I was just wondering, is this something OBGYN’s routinely check for? Or is it something that presents extreme symptoms I would notice? Should I ask my doctor today to check for them…I’m a worry wart : P

    • ANSWER:
They’re pretty painful and most of the time cause a noticeable size difference in pregnant women. They’re most common in women in their mid 30’s and beyond. If you don’t have any symptoms and aren’t in the “at risk” group, most likely you’ve got nothing to worry about. In other words–you’d probably know if you had them. Good luck!
    Pain in lower stomach…Fibroids?
My mom and my nana (grandmother) were both diagnosed with having fibroids. I know that they are genetic, so my probability of having them is higher than the average women. I often get sharp pains in my lower stomach on my right side. A few days ago the pain was so intense during sex that I had to stop. Yesterday it was excruciating to even set up, lay down, or even walk. I stayed up most of the night trying to deal with the pain. Also I have to urinate often, majority of the time have painful periods, and fullness and pressure in my lower abdomen along with other symptoms. This has happened many times in the past but I never made the connection between the pain and fibroids until recently. I know that pain during sex, frequent urination, fullness and pressure in the abdominal, area are some of the symptoms of fibroids. Could it be that I have a fibroid?

    • ANSWER:
There is a good chance that you do. You should go to the gyno and get it checked out. If you are on hormonal birth control (pill, ring, patch, etc) it could be making fibroids grow larger. They usually shrink again when you stop.

Go get checked out. The doctor will do a pelvic exam and will order an ultrasound on your uterus. Then you’ll have the answer.

Fibroids don’t always have to be removed surgically. Sometimes they can be managed in other ways, or just left alone unless they become too problematic. If they are removed surgically, the surgeon usually doesn’t have to cut into you. They go up through your cervix and remove them (similar to a D & C)
