Can I Get Pregnant With Fibroids?-Will Fibroids Stop Pregnancy

How to Get Pregnant With Fibroids

If you are suffering from this common condition, you may be wondering how to get pregnant with fibroids. At such a sensitive time, many women have fears but when you are aware that you have fibroids and that they are situated in or around the uterus, it is only natural that you may have increased anxiety.

As it happens, most women with fibroids go on to conceive normally and have a straightforward pregnancy and a normal birth. However, there is no denying that fibroids can sometimes cause problems in a minority of women and given a choice, most women would much prefer to be free of fibroids whether they are contemplating a pregnancy or not.

If you are in the position of wondering how to get pregnant with fibroids, why not consider using a natural treatment to shrink them before you begin trying for a baby. This should ensure that any unpleasant symptoms have disappeared prior to conception and in most women, shrinkage begins within days.

The location and size of fibroids are the two factors which most influence whether difficulties will occur at the time of conception. If fibroids are located near to the cervix, partially or virtually blocking the entrance, rarely they can prevent sperm entering the uterus. Similarly, fibroids located near to the entrance of the fallopian tubes can prevent the passage of sperm. A large fibroid in the uterus can sometimes prevent implantation or cause a miscarriage. Fibroids located just under the lining of the womb can sometimes cause the distension of the womb as it grows to accommodate the growing baby. In turn, this can cause an early delivery. In addition, fibroids can sometime bleed during the second trimester of pregnancy and although this can be painful, treatment is rarely needed. Other issues revolve around overcrowding, which might cause the fibroids to press on the bladder or other internal organs causing problems as the baby grows larger.

As you can see, most problems occur after conception, rather than with conception itself so rather than wondering how to get pregnant with fibroids, it may be worth considering what you can do to shrink your fibroids before you try to conceive.

Fibroids are a condition which respond very well to natural remedies and they are an ideal condition to treat because as they are so rarely life-threatening. It makes complete sense to try out a natural treatment for fibroids before resorting to surgery or any of the hormonal drugs which can cause their own side effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Has anyone been pregnant with uterine fibroids?
I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids in March of this year and am now 9.5 weeks with my first baby. If you have had fibroids while pregnant, how did it affect your pregnancy and labor/delivery? Thanks

    • ANSWER:
I’ve got a fibroid on the left of my uterus. I’m 19 weeks pregnant. I’m having an ultrasound in 2 days time and they will measure it to see if it has grown any bigger. It has grown from my 9 weeks ultrasound to my 12 week ultrasound so I imagine that it has grown even more by now. I’m not sure how it will affect the rest of my pregnancy but so far it hasn’t been a problem.

  2. QUESTION:
Pregnant with Fibroids in my uterine wall?
Has anyone been in the same situation as I am right now – I’m 7 weeks pregant and I have fibroid tumors inside my uterus – Please someone tell me if they have been in the same boat as me and if every thing turned out ok? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
My friend had a 3cm fibroid while she was pregnant. She had a lot of complications, lots of visits to the ER, lots of OB appointments and lots of bleeding came with it too. She has a beautiful 2yo now. Everything went fine, however every time she felt like something was wrong she would not hesitate, she would just go to the ER and labor and delivery later on into the pregnancy. Her baby was born 3 weeks early, he was 5lb and some oz, I don’t remember how many oz but, even when he was a preemie, he was eating on his own and everything was just fine and they left them take the baby home. She always took care of herself pretty good, ate well and healthy, after 3 months of pregnancy her fibroid stopped growing. See that is what your doctor will do, make sure they don’t grow, because if they do, they will take the blood that should be going to your baby and that is not good. But you make sure your doctor keep an eye on you and monitor you constantly.

  3. QUESTION:
Can u get pregnant with fibroids?
I went to ER the other day for pain in my stomach, My BF swore i was pregnant. I’m gaining weight, moody, and sick alot…FOUND OUT..no baby…this is devastating. Will I still be able to get pregnant after they are gone or while I have them?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi
I think my situation will be a great help for you.
I had 6 fibroids and 2-3 of them were 6-7cm and every doctor was telling me you can not get pregnant with these …I was ready to do the surgery to remove them but my concern was that it’s not a guarranty when you remove them they will not grow back…or even worse..your uterus will get some scar tissues and again you can’t get pregnant!!!!
but I DID get pregnant and after the first ultrasound they told me now I have 9 fibroids!!!! and some of them were as big as 7.5cm..my doctor was checking me every 2 weeks in case the cervix opens up too early and they told me it’s possible that i will not have a full term pregnancy and the baby might come sooner…but everything went fine and my baby boy came even 4 days late!!!
the other thing was that with too many fiboirds it’s possible that the baby can not turn down and will be breach and that didn’t happen as well he turned upside down on week 37 and every thing went smooth..I had a vaginal birth and he was 9 pounds which is really good with these big fibroids , every body was thiniking that he will not have much space to grow!!!!!!!! so from the begining i think every step was a miracle.
so just have hope and everything will workout…and just think that everything is possible
      :)))

  4. QUESTION:
can i get pregnant with fibroids?
been trying to get pregnant for a while now and have only just found out i have fibroids will i still be able to concieve

    • ANSWER:
Yes, depending on where your fibroid is located though. I have a fibroid, a pretty large one. With my first pregnancy I got pregnant right away but at 10 weeks I miscarried. I am now 12 1/2 weeks pregnant in my 2nd pregnancy and got pregnant right away again. I don’t have a problem getting pregnant with my fibroid because It’s not located on an ovary, yours I’m assuming is because you are having difficulty conceiving. My fiborid is actually on my uterus which is making it difficult to carry a baby full-term.
If you have been trying for sometime now and have not been able to concieve you may want to talk to your doctor about your options. There are surgeries and proceduries you can do so you can shrink or remove the tumor so you are able to concieve.

  5. QUESTION:
    Pregnant with fibroids?
    Hi there,

I am happily 10 weeks , pregnant with my first.
At my first ultrasound last week my doctor informed me that one of my fibroids that I had prior to pregnancy at 5.5cm has grown to 9cm. My fibroids are on the outside wall of my uterus.

She said there is a higher risk of miscarriage with fibroids and also a possibility of pain later on in the pregnancy and premature labor.

I know there is nothing I can do at this point about the fibroids, but am quite paranoid that I will either lose this baby or delivery too early.

Has anyone out there had a sucessful healthy pregnancy and baby with having fibroids, and if so, how big were yours and did they hurt the baby in any way?

    Any input would be great.

    • ANSWER:
im just the person to talk to!! this is my 3rd pregnancy with fibroids. after i had my son 2 pregnancies ago, my 5 cm. fib. grew to 8 cent. i started having REALLY heavy periods, that lasted like 8 days. well, at 3 months post partum, i got preg, agian this time with a girl. after her, they actually shrank back down to 6cm. but this wasnt enough to fix my heavy period situation. so, at 5 mo. postpartum i’m preg. agian, i dont know the status of mr. fibroid right now, but i assume they will grow.
so, as far as pain goes. i hurt really bad in early pregnancy, like really crampy-as my uterus streches. ive never had any complications. my babies get huge, very healthy- the only thing is that my belly gets VERY big! and i look much farther along than i actually am.bc. not preg. i have a 12 week size uterus. sounds like yours are located exactly where mine are. ive never even had a threatened miscarrage.they keep suggesting that i get my uterus removed, but im only 29 and as im sure youve guessed, we want lots of children. but if they grow too much more after this one (im 10 wks. too) i think i will get it taken out. the peroids are REALLY bad.- but dont you worry- im a living example that you can reproduce like a maniac with fibroids!!
but, they are always amazed that i can even concieve with the state my insides are in! i actually have several fibroids and a big cyst on one of my ovaries
