Fibroid Tumors Diet

Diet For Fibroid Tumors – 10 Basic Elements of a Healthy Diet For Fibroids

If you have fibroids, you may already be aware that what you eat can have an impact on the severity of your symptoms. There are various foods you should avoid and many which should be included. A diet for fibroid tumors should consist of a number of simple “rules” and to get you started, here are the basic elements of a healthy diet for fibroids.

1. Common sense is very important. Eat moderately sized portions of foods and ensure that you are not eating too many calories for your daily allowance. Fats should make up no more than 20-30% of your calorific intake

2. Eat high quality foods and avoid any which you suspect might contain environmental pollutants

3. Eat organically produced foods where possible. If not, wash all fruits and vegetables very well and peel where possible

4. Avoid fish grown in polluted waters. (Farmed fish is often better). Eat only lean, organic, grass-fed meats

5. Eat plenty of sprouting and non-starchy vegetables. Fruits are excellent cleansers but should be eaten in moderation if you suffer from candida overgrowth

6. Try to consume alkaline forming foods

7. Keep grains and legumes to a minimum

8. Avoid dairy products

9. Do not eat any processed, re-formed or fabricated foods

10. Eat as much food as possible in its raw state

A diet for fibroid tumors will certainly help with your symptoms. However, if you want to become fibroid-free, it is essential that you view your healthy diet for fibroids as part of an overall treatment plan which also includes other essential protocols including lifestyle changes, cleansing regimes, detoxification of the liver and stress management.

It is really only by following a robust system designed to eliminate all the possible causes of fibroids that you can be permanently cured.

About the author: Gail advocates using natural treatments for fibroids rather than using conventional medication or surgery as this is a workable long term solution. Conventional medication only treats the symptoms and fibroids are likely to regrow, whereas natural treatments, when used properly can eliminate the root cause by rebalancing the body and restoring overall health.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any experience with a fibroid tumor and getting one to shrink just by changing your diet?
I have a fibroid tumor in my uterus that is just growing and growing. It looks as if I am pregnant and it is a complete embarassment. I am not pregnant and I have to try to “hide” my stomach so that people will not stare at it. Justt the other day I had to buy a size 14 dress so that my big belly wouldn’t be so noticeable.
My ob/gyn says that until it becomes a problem we should just leave it alone. It doesn’t hurt or anything it is just very unattractive.
Does anyone have any experience with these from just changing your diet and or taking pills to get them to shrink? I know about my medical options as far as removing my uterus and getting that other thing that cuts off the blood to them but I would like to try it the natural way first. Thanks in advance for all serious answers. Oh i’m 31 years old 5’7 140lbs never had a weight problem before.

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think changing your diet or popping a pill is going to fix the issue… maybe you need to sit down and seriously talk to you doctor about having it removed… I had one the size of a gold ball on my lower right side… it looked awful.. decided to have it removed and realized that it was affecting me in just looks…

  2. QUESTION:
whats with my body? And how do u know u have fibroid tumors? what are they caused by?
i’m not on the pill, or stressed.. my body is really irregular and i was not on my period.. I was on medications but they were antibodies. my diet hasn’t changed.. what should I do?

    • ANSWER:
stick to the gunecologists advice, cause of fibroids is unknown, you can diagnose them with ultrasound, symptoms can be irregular menses or pain etc, see a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen, good luck

  3. QUESTION:
Can i be on a diet bill and a birth control pill at the same time?
Im 17 years old and im on the birth control because they recently found 2 fibroid tumors in my uterus and it’s supposed to diminish the tumors. Anyways, i heard you gain weight while your on the pill, and i really really really DO NOT want to gain weight, so i was wondering if i can be on the diet pill at the same time?

Im about 5’4-5’5 and i weigh 119 pounds. I dont smoke or drink.

    • ANSWER:
If you’re that concerned about gaining weight, you can try certain diet pills. But research first. Go to www.webmd.com and enter the birth control you’re using in the search engine, along with some of the diet pills you’re looking to try. Search each one individually and see if there’s any ingredients in them that would counteract eachother, or cause any implications. If so – then just eat healthy & exercise. You’re 17, so you’ll be able to maintain your shape pretty well with just that.

  4. QUESTION:
Is surgery my only option for Fibroid tumors?
Hi I’m a 27 year old female from Los Angeles, CA and was detected that I have 3 Fibroid tumors. This year in May 2010 I got my period and was having excruciating pain that I didn’t know why was it that bad. So thinkig it didn’t seem normal to me I went to go see a doctor and the doctor told me I had a bladder infection and gave me meds. So from that I thought okay that was the problem then No more worries. Well surely after I didn’t get my period in June but I was having early bad cramps since I didn’t get my period on time I decided to go see a Gyno she had said I have Yeast infection but she seemed like it’s no biggie that it’s treatable but had said she wanted me to get a pelvic ultra sound with a radiologist. So since she didn’t seemed worried I went to go get the test and got an unexpected suprise that I have 3 Fibroid tumors but away from my uteros. As some of you who have been in my situation know how I felt and was really dumbfounded. I even know a couple of friends who have had it and have been through really bad situations which I would want to go through. I’ve never had kids but would like to have some one day. I am not sure on the sizes of tumors but from what I saw in the ultrasound two might look like the size of a golf ball around there and one is a little bigger Im just guessing. I’m supposed to go see my gyno in a week. I was away in Australia for a year 2009 and had bad cramp pain but not as much as i’ve been having it here back home so makes me wonder I may have had it that long. I have faith that I’m hoping that all will go well. I’ve been told by several people that I can naturally get rid of them but I would have to be in a strict diet and that the fibroids may come back. So would this be an option if I really take care of myself?

Ladies only who have had it a couple of questions; What was your experience when you had it? Are there certain foods that I should watch out for? What would be my best decision to get rid of these tumors and still have a chance in the future of having a baby with my current partner? How long does it take to recover? I was told there’s laser surgery to get them removed. Would that be safe? I dont have insurance but might be getting medical so pray for me and wish me luck. Please share some of your similar experiences with me and maybe some way to aleviate my pain that im having right now. . . I DO NOT WANT MY UTERUS TO GET REMOVED so please any advice you can give me I would truly appreciate it. 🙂

    THANK YOU!!!

    • ANSWER:
There is a minimally invasive procedure called uterine fibroid embolization (you can Google this for more info). It is done by an interventional radiologist. A small incision is made in your groin and catheters are inserted until they reach the blood vessels supplying the fibroids. Small particles are injected into these vessels to block them. This causes the fibroids to shrink as they no longer have any blood supply. Over several weeks to months the fibroids shrivel up and you will not have any more symptoms. This is a quick procedure, about an hour and does not require a hospital stay. Ask your gynecologist if you are a candidate for this procedure and if he/she can refer you to a doctor that does this. This procedure is good for young women who want to preserve their uterus for future pregnancny.
      Hope this was helpful.

  5. QUESTION:
Please advise me on a fruit and veggie diet what are the best type of fruits to eat?
I have almost totally eliminated meat from my diet. I am now trying to work on cutting out dairy. Can you please tell me what fruits and veggiesto eat that are good and delicious. I already eat corn, broccoli and potatoes for veggies. For fruits I eat. cherries, apples, oranges, pineapples and tangos. I don’t like bananas or strawberry’s or watermellon. I have never had a dew (whatever it is called the big orange thing with tanish shell) is it good? What does it taste like. What are some other delicious fruits and veggies I could eat?

I am trying to shrink my fibroid tumor without surgery and I am told that eliminating meats and dairys will do it. Help please!

    • ANSWER:
Congratulations on your choice to become vegetarian!

Here is a great website with some of the wolds healthiest foods http://www.whfoods.com/foodstoc.php. this should give you tons of new foods to try!
whenever trying a new fruit or vegetable always make sure you know when they are ripe or how to eat them. There is nothing worse than trying something new and end up hating it because you ate it over ripe or under ripe and didn’t know any better.

But I would recommend eating more leafy green vegetables (salad vegetables) Like lettuce, spinach, kale, bock choy, Swiss chard.

Here are some more great websites for new and experienced vegetarians and vegans.
      http://www.drmcdougall.com/
      http://www.fatfreevegan.com/
      http://www.vegansociety.com/html/

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 8 years and started at age 12. I became a vegan just 3 1/2 months ago and noticed many improvements in my health. I used to get a skin rash that just wouldn’t go away, and only after 2 weeks on a vegan diet it was gone. My monthly cycle use to last 5 days, and ever since going vegan it only lasts 3 days and is very light, I have much less BO, I have more energie than I have ever had before. I think most of it was dairy related.
I am never going back to animal products no way nuh uh!
