Enlarged Fibroid

Fibroid Diet – Help Eliminate Fibroids Naturally

A fibroid diet is one which is tailored to meet the specific needs of women who have symptoms caused by their fibroids. We all know the importance of healthy eating and this is particularly significant for women with this condition. There are also guidelines for items which should be both included and excluded for a fibroid diet.

The reason why fibroids are so difficult to treat is because of their very nature. Fibroids are not caused by an infection or disease, both of which can be relatively easily treated by medication, but are thought to be caused by lifestyle. Having said this, doctors still do not unanimously agree on the exact causes but there is general agreement on the following points:-

* Fibroids are affected by estrogen levels and grow more when there is an abundance of this hormone
* Fibroids are much more common in Afro Caribbean women
* Women in their mid-thirties onwards are more likely to suffer from fibroids
* Fibroids are more common in overweight women
* There is a genetic connection-fibroids tend to run in families
* There is a definite sensitivity to environmental chemicals and fibroids have been known to grow in response to certain toxins which mimic the effect of estrogen
* Fibroids seem to be more common in women who have a tendency to inflammatory condition

When conventional treatments for fibroids are used, such as removal of the individual fibroids or reducing their size by surgically blocking the blood vessels, the fibroids are very likely to return. When you consider the factors which we do know about fibroids, it is easy to understand why this is. These standard treatments take no account of what may have caused the fibroids and so they will simply grow back.

A fibroid diet looks at the general causes of fibroids and takes these factors into account.

One of the most important aspects of a fibroid diet is to look at ways of naturally reducing estrogen levels. A simple way of doing this is to ensure that a healthy weight is maintained as fat cells are known to be one of the ways that the body produces estrogen. Another way to reduce estrogen is to undergo a liver detox. This works by getting rid of environmental chemicals which are stored in the liver and some of which can mimic the action of estrogen. Eating a generally healthy diet which is low in fat and which concentrates in organic foods which are produced without hormones, pesticides, chemicals or additives is also known to be beneficial. In addition, you should avoid artificial sweeteners, caffeine and processed foods.

In addition to eating a diet which helps with fibroids, certain herbs and foodstuffs are thought to both ease the symptom and help to shrink fibroids. These include motherwort, cleavers ,eaves, prickly ash bark, ginger root and red raspberry leaf.

There is a complete plan which guarantees that you can eliminate fibroids naturally by using a multi-faceted approach which takes care of all the different aspects of what can cause fibroids. Fibroids are very rarely dangerous and once you have received confirmation that your fibroids are not life threatening, there is every reason to try to shrink your fibroids naturally by using a fibroid diet in combination with other methods. About the author: After suffering from the symptoms of fibroids for a number of years, Bernadette believed it was excess abdominal fat! When her uterus was the size of a 7 month pregnancy there was no denying that she had a serious problem. Although relieved that it was nothing life threatening, she was advised to have a hysterectomy as she was suffering from shortness of breath, discomfort and severe anemia. She decided to try a natural remedy to shrink the fibroids before surgery as she was reluctant to use hormonal drugs due to the menopausal side effects. She could see changes within a month and the effects were so dramatic that she decided against a hysterectomy. A recent scan showed that the two biggest fibroids (which were larger than grapefruits) had shrunk considerably and there were very few others which were even discernible.

As an advocate of natural treatments for a variety of conditions, she now feels passionate about letting others know how they can avoid the last resort of surgery for fibroids.

Frequently Asked Questions

why do I have a very enlarged uterus I have no fibroid or ovarian cysts just had a hysterectomy 1 week ago?

    • ANSWER:
      ask your doctor/nurse.

    enlarged uterus w/fibroid tumors?
I have had lower abdominal pain. My Gyne told me that my uterus was the size of a 14 week uterus and that I had a few fibroid tumors. He said I could try living with the pain or get a hysterectomy w/o taking my ovaries out. Granted I am not having more kids and I am only 35. I am not sure what to do, the doctor just seemed so carefree about taking it out! Has anyone had something similar and if so, what did you do??? HELP!

    • ANSWER:
Hello. I am a surgical tech. The reason he is carefree about it is anymore hysterectomy’s are pretty standard, not THAT big of a deal. If you are not planning on having any more children, then just have it removed to be pain free. I know that any surgery is scary, but ask him about his approach. Vaginal, abdominal, laproscopic assisted vaginal. It is a pretty common surgery, and easy to preform. I would do it if I were you, it will be better for you in the long run.

What kind of problem can occur if you have enlarged spleen?
I had a abdominal ultrasound test couple of days back. The report said that Igot a bulky uterus with fibroid, a cyst in left ovary and a enlarged spleen. I think I’ve to have aoperation for my fibroid problem. But I know nothing about the spleen problem. my question is how this problem occurs and what should I do to solve this problem.

    • ANSWER:
There are a number of conditions that can cause the spleen to enlarge so not sure just what is causing yours. The biggest worry with an enlarged spleen is that it becomes vulnerable to rupture should you receive any kind of trauma to the abdomen. You should not play any kind of contact sports or engage in any activities that could result in a blow to the stomach. Ruptured spleens are common in car wrecks and a person can bleed to death from a ruptured spleen fairly quickly. Find out just what is causing your problem and follow your doctors orders to the letter.

Who has been diagnosed with an enlarged uterus?
Ok, I got a late start in life, finally met the man of my dreams at 40 and have been told because of fibroid tumors, my uterus is enlarged and although I could get pregnant, it will be a nightmare. Anyone had this and had a health baby??

    • ANSWER:
Well, the reason that they said it would be a nightmare, is because when fibroids are present in the uterus, it takes up room and therefore the baby has issues because it has high chances of having to be delivered prematurely depending on how many and how large your fibroids are. Many women do end up having healthy babies with uterine fibroids, it just isn’t the easiest pregnancy and birth. I would just discuss the risks with your doctor, and if you decide you do want to get pregnant, then what your plan of care would be with your doctor.
