Diet For Fibroids

How to Treat Fibroids Naturally Using Diet

Fibroids are a very common condition. Indeed, most women who have fibroids probably never really know as they have few or no symptoms. However, for a number of women, the situation couldn’t be more different, with debilitating symptoms and little hope of a conventional cure. This may well be leading you to look at how to treat fibroids naturally, and one way of doing this is by carefully selecting the foods that we eat.

Many doctors will advocate a “wait and see” approach as fibroids will normally shrink during the menopause. However, this is not a good option if you are not on the brink of the change of life or, indeed, if your symptoms are adversely affecting your quality of life.

The truth is that unless you can eliminate the root causes of your fibroids, any treatment you have will just be a “Band-Aid” approach and will only treat the symptoms. This is one of the reasons why doctors are reluctant to advocate surgery, as they know that fibroids are likely to regrow, particularly if you are still a couple of years or more away from the menopause.

Changing your diet is just one of a range of ways to treat fibroids naturally. You need to be very clear that if you want to make a real difference, you will need to make significant lifestyle and dietary changes and be prepared to invest some time and effort in your own healing. Other elements which you will also need to consider include exercise, eliminating toxins, herbal remedies and stress reduction.

With regard to your diet, there are a number of steps you can take if you want to know how to treat fibroids naturally and the following principles should be followed.

* Keep well-hydrated-drink a minimum of 2 liters of water daily
* Cut out animal fats
* Try to eat organic produce where possible
* Eat between 5-10 portions of fresh fruits and vegetables daily-preferably in their natural state or lightly cooked. Foods such as kale, cabbage and darker fruits such as blueberries are particularly good for women with fibroids
* Switch to a largely vegetarian diet, allowing yourself just small amounts of lean organic meat
* Try to eat a little “good” oil daily, such as olive oil. Omega 3 is found in oily fish such as salmon and this is very good for health
* Garlic and onions are well known for their healing properties-try to include some of each daily
* Beans nuts and seeds should be included in the diet as should wholegrains
* Plenty of fiber (between 20 and 30 grams daily) should be included

If you modify your diet to adhere to the principles above, you will find that this will begin to help and the old saying “you are what you eat” rings true as far as fibroids are concerned. Your diet forms the basis of beginning to shrink your fibroids.

The lack of comprehensive “real” help for women led an alternative practitioner to develop a complete system for shrinking fibroids which mirrored what she taught women in her busy clinic. Her unique, 7 Step Plan has been successfully used by many thousands of women worldwide and for those who are willing to take charge of their own treatment and recognize that they will have to play an active role in their own healing, then this is simply ideal. If, however, you are the type of person who will simply expect to take a pill and be cured, then this is maybe not the right system for you. Frequently Asked Questions

What are some natural treatements (diet, vitamins) I can take increase my progesterone?
I’m relatively healthy, married and 26. For the past 3 years, I’ve begun spotting about 1 day before my period. From what I’ve read, it can be caused by low progesterone, endometriosis or fibroids. I think that I’m having a difficult time getting pregnant because of low progesterone which can affect implantation into my uterus. What are some natural solutions I can do? I don’t want to take prescriptions or use the progesterone cream.

    • ANSWER:
If you have had your hormonal level checked and have low progesterone here is a few options. One you can buy a cream from the health food stores, made of plants. You can also do what is called Bio-Identical hormonal replacement. You would have a saliva test done. Pharmacies who sell bio identicals will give you the test. You have to spit a LOT in the morning. It will test all your female hormone levels. This test is more sensative and acurate than even blood. The Bio-Identical’s are all natural, and the pharmasist will mix them together right there to the exact level your body needs. You can get the test done for about 0.00. Then you get the results back, and your Dr. would have to prescribe the exact dosage of what you need. Many Dr’s who practice natural medicine are encouraging Bio-Identicals. They have seemed to help many women with a lot less side effects than the standard pills and creams. If you have not had the low progesterone verified by any testing and are just guessing. I would tell you to do the Lab, and get check at least. Have a Dr verify this is the problem. I tried natural low dose health food store progesterone once to help my cycle. OMG, that was not my problem I have never EVER had a headache so desperatly bad in my life. It was the MOMMA Migrain of them all. I’m including a link for more info on the Bio Identicals. It is a link for Women to Women, this site is awesome. The clinic was established by Dr. Christina Northrup. Her book womens bodies womens wisdom, helped me get rid of fibroids without medication, and without surgery. One was the size of a tennis ball. I would highly recomend the book to any women as a guide to your woman hood. She goes over all kinds of female problems and the most natural way to the most invasive way to treat them. I have had great luck with her natural methods. Good luck hon, email me if you want, we can talk more.

I have PCOS and I need to severely alter my diet, but I’m not sure what’s healthy and what’s not! Help?
I’m 18 and I’ve just been diagnosed with PCOS and fibroids so my doctor told me that this is all because of an intolerance to insulin so I have to cut down drastically on sugars/carbs/etc. What I don’t get is how drastically am I supposed to cut down? I know that the body needs SOME carbohydrates, but I don’t really know how much is too much and where I should cut myself off. It’s terrible because I’m trying to stick to a diet, but I don’t know what I should or shouldn’t be eating and it’s extremely important for me to get healthy now more than ever because I’m young enough to reverse the effects. Some days I hardly eat anything because I’m practically scared to death that I’ll eat the wrong things, and other days I’m so starving I can’t stop myself!

So basically, for someone with polycystic ovary syndrome due to an intolerance for insulin, what kind of foods should I be eating/not eating and how much?

    • ANSWER:
one slice of whole grain bread per day is all you need, cut out all other carbs and get yourself back in balance, eat green and yellow veggies, broiled and baked fish and white meat chicken, low fat dairy in moderate ammounts, no potatoes, no rice, no chips no noodles, no spaghetti. and on and on. you can buy vegetable spaghetti sometimes, its a squash the inside of it is like spaghetti and you can put tomato sauce on it.

    painful fibroids in pregnancy?
please help any diet?hi is there a remedy for dealing with fibroids pains during pregnancy ?I am in serious pain but hospital says there is nothing that can be done except codeine pills

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately the only real treatment for fibroids is either a hysterectomy or, in women who still want children, surgical removal of the fibroid. As you are pregnant these are obviously not options for you.
Are they sure it is the fibroids causing such pain as usually they are painless? I would have a word with your doctor to make sure everything else is alright…that nothing else is causing this pain, and to discuss pain control with him although what you can take is limited.
I know of no diet that can help but maybe something such as a TENS machine may be of use. This is a machine that passes a minute electrical current to you via electrode pads, it is often effective with chronic pain… your midwife can advise you on there use.
Good Luck…I hope you soon feel better.

    Uterine Fibroids and Breast Cysts
    Hello All,
I have uterine fibroids and breast cysts. I am estrogen dominant and began taking steps to repair the damage. I have begun exercising as well as changing my diet free from red meats, dairy and coffee. My doctor and I discussed possible options and since I am fairly young (36), invasive procedures are not beneficial for me since I plan (hope) to have more children and the Fibroids are not yet severely large enough to cause serious damage, however they are uncomfortable.

I also don’t want to take Hormone Therapy due to side affects and my age.

I researched online various sites advising the use of Natural Herbs to reduce and shrink Fibroids, but there are so many I want to know which herbs are BEST or more EFFECTIVE at eliminating Fibroids.
I understand that using Natural Herbs it will take abit of a longer time to reduce the Fibroids and I’m ok with that, I just want to “pin-point” the BEST and MOST EFFECTIVE herbs to obtain.

I’ve read the following are good choices:
    Vitex (Chasteburry)
    Milk Thistle
    Lady’s Mantle
    Dandelion root

Please if I’ve missed anything please let me know or advise the best most effective herb remedy to use. Thanks everyone in advance, greatly appreciate it!

    • ANSWER:
Goodness, you could be my “female problem identical twin”! Please, please, please, do not remove your uterus. You are not going to like me for this, but I am going to recommend that you go to a Reproductive Gynecological Doctor. They will help you repair the mess your body has made, all the while, ensuring that your fertility will be kept in tact. There is surgery you can have to remove them without doing lots of damage to the uterus.
