Fibroids and Pregnancy
There is no doubt that fibroids and pregnancy do not sit well together. Fibroids can be troublesome under normal circumstances, but throw the desire to have a baby or an actual pregnancy into the mix and a number of issues arise.
If you are aware that you have fibroids and are trying to conceive, then you should be aware that most women will go on to have a healthy pregnancy and successful delivery. However, a minority of women will experience significant problems, some of which can be overcome.
The size and location of fibroids is relative to the degree and type of problems you might experience. If fibroids are located in a place which can cause a blockage, such as next to the cervix or close to the fallopian tube entrance then this can prevent sperm from passing through and thus prevent a woman becoming pregnant.
Fibroids and pregnancy can also be an issue when fibroids are located within the uterine cavity, as the interior can become distorted which can prevent the egg implanting. In some cases where implantation occurs, then if it is in an area which has “thinned out” due to the fibroid stretching, an early miscarriage could occur before the pregnancy is even suspected.
During pregnancy, another possible complication is when fibroids grow larger. This can happen due to the increased hormones in circulation at this time and can cause a couple of issues. Firstly, fibroids can suddenly outgrow their blood supply, causing a condition known as “red degeneration” where bleeding can occur. This can be very painful but is rarely dangerous and usually settles without treatment. However, if you suspect this, a visit to the doctor is in order. Secondly, enlarging fibroids cam compete with the growing baby for space within the uterus and this can cause an early delivery or, thankfully rarely, a miscarriage.
If you are worried about fibroids and pregnancy, speak to your doctor about your options and get her opinion on the likely impact on your own situation. Doctors are often reluctant to perform surgery due to the possible impact of scar tissue preventing a future pregnancy. There is also the recovery time to consider, although in certain circumstances surgery will be an option.
You can also consider using natural treatment which is non-invasive and can work very quickly providing you are prepared to stick to the protocols. This will involve dietary modification, detoxification and cleansing routines as well as supplementing your diet, amongst other strategies.

QUESTION:
How long does it take for fibroids to shrink after pregnancy?
I just delivered my beautiful baby boy a few weeks ago via c-section.During my pregnancy I had 3 fibroids , one the size of a large grapefruit , one the size of an orange and the other near my cervix (which is the reason for the c-section)
Its been over 3 weeks now – I have lost all my pregnancy weight and then some but I still have a belly (looking like I am about 3-4 months pregnant) . I can see that my left side of my stomach (where my large fibroid is) is still sticking out more than my right side.
My question is, how long does it take for fibroids to shrink down after pregnancy????

QUESTION:
Anyone had a successful conception & pregnancy after diagnosis of fibroids in the uterus?
Looking for a little hope…-
ANSWER:
Honey fibroids do not equal instant infertility. In fact, most of the time they are harmless. I have fibroids and got pregnant on the first try. My pregnancy miscarried, but NOT because of the fibroids…my baby had a defective heart. I have a few friends with fibroids who have each had successful pregnancies… and more than one. Many women have them. I wouldn’t worry about it. If the doctors determine that yours are a problem, you can have them removed and after about 6 months of recovery start trying. This is step, though, that most women don’t have to take.Good luck!

QUESTION:
Uterine fibroids during pregnancy?
I just had my 20 week scan that showed we’re having a healthy baby girl! However besides seeing girl parts, the ultrasound also showed that I have 3 uterine fibroids. The ultrasound tech had the personality of a rock and just said -“they’re benign and they’re small so it’s fine”, and then moved on to the next part of the exam. After I got home I googled it and got scared after reading about an increased risk of still birth and c-section. My next dr. appt isn’t til Tuesday. Any of you ladies out there with any experience with these?-
ANSWER:
Nothing will happen at 20 weeks, so don’t worry. You’ll be fine, absolutely normal till your next exam.Discuss it with the doctor. They (all people involved) will be monitoring this closely, so don’t worry about still birth either, but relax.
Worse case scenario if you remain healthy and positive, will be C-section and really, that’s not so bad.
Anytime after 32 weeks, now I’m guessing, but especially with the baby’s size at 34 – 37 wks. you could have a great, successful, and rewarding c-section with no complications.
Or you could go to full term. Who knows, wait it out with as much hope and faith as possible, there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
BTW, both you and baby are healthy.
