Uterine Fibroids Symptoms And Treatment – Findings Natural Treatments
Uterine fibroids are usually the most common tumor which is benign (non cancerous) that is found in a woman’s uterus. About 30% to 40% of women suffer from fibroids at one point or another during their lifetime. Research is ongoing on better understanding fibroids and effective treatments. This article discusses uterine fibroid symptoms and treatment as well as finding natural treatments for fibroids to rid sufferers of these tumors.
These tumors of the smooth muscle that is usually found in the wall of the uterus are known as uterine fibroids. These fibroids of the uterus are usually found within the wall of the uterus or can attach to the wall of the uterus. Uterine fibroids can grow in the form of a single tumor or in clusters of tumors and can grow to any size. Fibroids can lead to various health issues despite being considered benign (no cancer cells).
Uterine Fibroids Symptoms
Do note that most fibroids do not require treatment and may not lead to many health problems. Others may cause;
a. Excessive menstrual blood or heavy menstrual cycles leading to anemia as well as debilitation.
b. Discomfort or pain in the pelvis
c. The need to urinate frequently
d. Infertility or other problems getting pregnant
e. Headaches due to the fibroids pressing against nerves
f. A condition known as “compression syndrome” which affects body parts such as the bladder which then leads to bloating, frequent urination as well as constipation. Other body parts affected include the rectum which may be pressed upon by the fibroids.
g. Shortness of breath or feeling dizzy
If fibroids do not produce any symptoms, they can be detected during a normal pelvic exam. An ultrasound can also be used to detect any fibroids as well as to help determine whether you suffer from a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. Fibroids mainly affect women that have a long family history of uterine fibroids. In addition, fibroids affect black women is greater numbers than any other racial group.
Traditional Treatments for Fibroids
If the fibroids produce no symptoms or are small in size, no treatment is usually necessary. If not, to control the bleeding which may in some cases soak up more than three tampons or pads or other fibroids symptoms, hormonal medicines can be prescribed or surgery may be performed such as:
1. Hysterectomy which is the removal of both the uterus and the fibroids and is the most common surgical procedure related to fibroids to cure fibroids. If any cancerous cells are observed the ovaries and fallopian tubes are usually removed as well. Besides feeling less than a woman as well as continuing to take medications to control mood and other side effects, this surgery is expensive.
2. Myomectomy is surgery performed to only remove the fibroids. The uterus is usually left alone allowing the woman to be able to get pregnant if she wishes.
3. Clotting of the blood supply to the fibroids is a new approach that has shown great results. When the blood supply to the fibroids is blocked, the fibroid can shrink.
Holistic or Natural Treatments for Fibroids
Natural treatments have been shown to provide great results for the treatment and cure of fibroids. Surgery always carries a risk and the side effects may be very unpleasant. The surgery also costs a great deal. Surgeries such as hysterectomies can be very depressing for women since they will feel less than a woman without a uterus and all hopes of having a baby go out the window. Natural treatments for fibroids are less invasive and are become more and more popular with women because of their effectiveness.

QUESTION:
Why would a woman with fibroids with no symptoms have to have a hysterectomy?
I know a girl that was diagnosed with fibroids about 10 yrs ago. She has no symptoms except she says she can not have kids because her uterus is out of shape due to the fibroids. She also says that her doctor told her she needed a hystercetomy but she talked him out of it. She was in her mid-30s when diagnosed. I thought you could still have kids with fibroids unless you were having really bad symptoms.-
ANSWER:
Obviously she was having really bad symptoms if her uterus is out of shape.
The doctor probably wanted to do a hysterectomy as a preventative measure. Of course it is always the patient’s choice. But her fibroids might grow even more and she might have to have the hysterectomy in the future.

QUESTION:
What are some of symptoms of uterine fibroids?
I had a late miscarriage in January. I lost the baby because some sort of tissue has wrapped around the umbilical cord and cut it off. Since the miscarriage I have had light periods, been constantly looking and feeling bloated, and I am very sensitive to touch around where my uterus is. I know I sound crazy but I have been ignoring how I feel for a long time and I just want to know if I have any cause for concern. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
heavy or painful periods, abominal discomfort, bloating, painful defecation, backache, and frequent urination.

QUESTION:
What does it mean when you have a tender and enlarged uterus?
I have always found out that I was pregnant around 4-6 mo into my pregnancy. I took hpts, blood hcgs… and they all came back neg until 4-6 months. Now for the last 4 months, i have had nausea, vomitting, and the whole preggers package. I started have aches in my lower abdomen a week ago and so I went to the E.R. Of course my insurance would cover a urine test this time but not a blood test or sonogram. All the doctor could tell me is that my uterus is tender and enlarged. I kinda know that I’m preggers, but I have been fooled before. I don’t have the accompanying symptoms for fibroids…. I am just confused and I really want the madness to end. My husband and I want to have another child, but I don’t want false hope. And it really becomes uncomfortable in public when people see my belly and ask when am I due. Could it be that the doctor was trying to give hints to me that I was pregnant? I’ve had nothing but spotting for 4 months. Some a little heavy and sometime traces of pink when i wipe, but spotting all the same. With my last two pregnancies this would be alright….. but I really need answers now because I am under a lot of stress and my health is not what it should be and I can’t take the risk of endangering my unborn child if I am pregnant. And if I am, I will be pressured to quit my job by my husband. I know this is long but I need answers please!-
ANSWER:
can you take a pregnancy test? just buy one from the pharmacy and do the test…good luck

QUESTION:
Womens health question, serious answers please?
I was told that I could have endometriosis, it hasn’t been confirmed and that my uterus is enlarged. I don’t have fibroids. Is an enlarged uterus a normal symptom of endo. The cramps are the worst for me after my period is over. My ovaries feel like they are going to burst or something and I feel pressure and pain in all of my lower abdomen and pelvis into my hips and lower back.
I have researched endo and I think there is more to my symptoms than endo. the pain is all the time not just during my period. Has anyone with endo had these symptoms?-
ANSWER:
In some women for whom adenomyosis is present in addition to the Endometriosis, the uterus can be enlarged and appears “boggy” on diagnostics. However, Endo pain can be present at all times throughout the cycle, not just during periods, so it’s possible that Endo alone is causing your symptoms (all of which are indicative of Endo). Your best bet is to see an Endo specialist for additional help and info. Here are some links which might be of assistance:http://www.endometriosistreatment.org

QUESTION:
Is it necessary to take hormone replacement’s while on Lupron Depot even if you don’t have any symptoms?
I was diagnosed about 3 months ago with 3 fibroids in my uterus, so large they told me I was “about 18 weeks”! I was informed that the soonest I could get surgery was in June so the doctor suggested I take Lu pron to ease my pain, stop the growth and lighten my symptoms of which were constant pain and pressure on my bladder, my bowel and horrible cramps. Anyhow, I got the Lu Pron injection a little more than a month ago and was told to wait a month then start taking a prescription of replacement hormones. Estrogen and Progesteron. Question is, If I feel great, better then I felt in years, with no side effects to complain about, just very light headaches and barely noticable warm flashes, is it necessary for me to take the hormones?
I’ve only heard horrible things about Lupron, but I have to say, I feel great!!-
ANSWER:
Yes, especially if your gyno tells you to and prescribes you the hormone replacements.
