QUESTION:
I am 35yrs old & just had surgery to remove uterine fibroids. My right ovary was removed due to a dermoid cyst?
This operation resulted with the doctor having to remove my right ovary. I am not married & have no children. I would really like to have a child sometime soon. My question is what are my chances of becoming pregnant with one ovary especially at my age? Also would my menstral cycle change? How often would I ovulate?-
ANSWER:
I would have to tell you, that its probably not good. You have half the chance with just one ovary. And you have also had surgery on your uterus. And you are 35. I would talk to your doctor about it. I’m not sure how often you ovulate or have a cycle. Write down all of your questions and take them to an OB GYN. They are the experts.Im sure its not impossible, you could maybe consider IVF??

QUESTION:
Is severe bleeding/clotting normal during your first menstrual cycle after a hysteroscopy to remove fibroids?
I had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy 3 weeks ago to remove two uterine fibroids and endometriosis on the outside of my uterus. My first post operative menstrual cycle just started. I have the worst menstrual cramps, bleeding and clotting of my life. Is this normal after a hysteroscopy? Thanks for any help.-
ANSWER:
From my experience, I had mayomactomy ( to remove fibroids) in 2005. 3 days after the surgery I had my period and it was as heavy as it was before the surgery. I had the surgery because I had so many fibroids and heavy bleeding during the period. The situation wasn’t better after the surgery as my doctor said they could not remove all the fibroids as they were so tiny. So I had heavy bleeding after the surgery as well. If the doctors would remove all the fibroids they might not be able to keep my uterus.
I think you have tiny fibroids left inside the uterus. Go to your doctor and have a good check up.

QUESTION:
Does removing uterine fibroids increase or decrease the chance of getting pregnant?
I doctor told me it will encrease the chance for me, but I have heard the opposite from people.
I haven’t even try to get pregnant yet.
I have one large fibroid and a few small ones.
Large as 16 weeks fetus.-
ANSWER:
The doctor who performed my surgery told me it could increase or decrease my chances for getting pregnant. The reason was b/c of my fibroids being in so many places(i had 7 golf ball size ones inside & out) they would have to cut and sew in different places that the scar tissue would make it harder. But he was very careful during the surgery and i have minimal scar tissue. So if you are planning on having this surgery done, make sure it’s a dr who specializes in preserving the uterus and had plenty of experience w/ this type of surgery. Do your research!!! My surgery was done in April and now I am 7wks pregnant! Hope all goes well!
