QUESTION:
what is the medical treatment for fibroid in uterus during pregnancy?
-
ANSWER:
Utrine fibroids are treated with medicines (Ibuprofen, gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists) and surgery (myomectomy, hysterectomy, uterine fibroid embolization and ExAblate2000 system.
A main concern for women with uterine fibroids is that they will inhibit fertility or make pregnancy impossible. Though uterine fibroids can make it difficult to become or maintain a pregnancy, the majority of women never have any problems.
After a pregnancy is established, existing fibroids may grow due to the increased blood flow and estrogen levels. These usually return to their original size after the baby has been delivered.
Most women are able to carry their babies to term, but some of them end up delivering prematurely because there is not enough room in the uterus.
Cesarean section may be needed for delivery since fibroid tumors can occasionally block the birth canal or cause the baby to be positioned wrong. After menopause, new fibroids rarely develop and those already present usually shrink.
Consult your gynecologist regarding medical treatment during pregnancy.

QUESTION:
3″ fibroid on top of uterus — treatment?
Hello, all:On Monday, an ultrasound revealed that I have a 3 inch wide fibroid embedded in the top of my uterus. I’ve been having heavy periods with clotting and bursts of fresh blood for the last couple of years, but no pain to speak of. Thanks to the ultrasound, I now know what was causing the menstrual irregularities.
I know that sometimes cutting off the blood supply to a fibroid is an option, but this one looks like part of it is inside the uterine wall. (The ultrasound tech let me view the images from the scan.) Does this make a hysterectomy a more likely form of treatment?
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.
ETA: Thank you, Keltasia (((hugs back))). I’m sure it will turn out all right, but… yeah. Major surgery. Not something I’m looking forward to.-

ANSWER:

Keep me posted about her progress and conditions regularly at least once a week. QUESTION:
What treatment do you recommend for fibroid tumors?
I was diagnosed with having fibroid tumors back in April. I have two tumors the size of golf balls on my uterus, so far non cancerous. I have some pain and discomfort and heavy uncontrolled bleeding spells. My gyn acts like it’s no big deal, but I don’t like feeling this way all the time. Does anyone have any advice?-
ANSWER:
The only treatment for fibroid tumors is surgery. All it is, is thick tissue that causes pain. I had them too and after a while, they had to be removed because they got so big. There’s no pill to make them go away. If you feel pain from them, use a warm heating pad and it really eases up the pain. Good luck

QUESTION:
I need info about a possible fibroid tumor on my uterus…
I had an MRI on my hip about three weeks ago and I went to my doctor yesterday to discuss the results. She told me that the test also showed a possible fibroid tumor on my uterus, A few questions: Can they tell just from the MRI that it is fibroid as opposed to malignant? Also, what is the treatment for a fibroid tumor? ANY info you can share with me will be appreciated.-
ANSWER:
the only way to tell if it is malignant(cancerous) or benign(non-cancerous) is to do a biopsy. I’m so sorry. I hope it’s malignant and you are ok! good luck!
