QUESTION:
uterine fibroids and back pain? tailbone pain…anyone experience fibroids?
I found out I have 3 fibroids, a 6 cm one and two smaller ones. I had a baby 10 months ago and when I first became pregnant, the pain in my tailbone was excruciating. The big fiboid got to softball size while pregnant and is now 6cm. I thought the pain would go away after the baby, just thought it was a pregnancy ailment. But now, I can’t sit on hard surfaces or lay on the floor without excruciating pain. I feel like I am being stabbed in my tailbone whenever I sit down. I have been complaining to my obgyn about the back pain and he sent me to a physical therapist. no help. My cycles are super heavy now and I’m miserable. I just left the obgyn doctors office about my ultrasound for the fibroids and he said not to do anything about them unless I am done having kids. I told him I’m not sure and he said to just take Aleve. That’s not cutting it. On the way home, my husband said, did you ask him if that is why you are having the back pain? I didn’t even think of that. Now I am reading online about firoids and back pain and I’m thinking this could be the cause. Has anyone experienced this type of pain with fibroids?-
ANSWER:
try motrin/ibuprofin and sitting in hot baths.I feel for you.
I had them..and I told the doctor it was like someone grabbing the skin of his testicles with a pair of vice grips and twisting.
I went through the super heavy periods too..then I had a hysterectomy a few months later.
The doctor felt all the fibroids on the day of the operation and apologized for the five years of pain..
but My pain was not nearly as bad as yours. Not even close.
If Motrin does not work (it did for me) maybe try tolectin or robaxin.

QUESTION:
What do you know about fibroids and back pain??
I have had chronic back pain for a couple years, most of the time every day of the month..and gets worse around that time of month. After having my yearly routine exam, my doctor mentioned I had fibroids. I didn’t put two and two together until after my appointment, as he didn’t mention fibroids could cause my back pain. Now after doing the research, I realize that could be why I have so much discomfort and after chiropractic, physical therapy, and after prescriptions for muscle spasms found little relief for my pain that comes and goes. Could my pain disappear for a month or two and then come back for another year while fibroids shrink and grow new ones?
I have other symptoms of fibroids, such as bad cramping, constipation, etc, but no extra bleeding. I will talk to my doctor about my options, but I’m just doing my research ahead of time; so I am well informed. In the articles I have read, back pain isn’t usually the main symptom; so I am cautious to think that is the root of it
my back pain can be best described as:
a sharp sensation in the lower back that is worse after sitting for a period of time sometimes after 5 minutes. It also has a dull pain, and sometimes radiates down to the back of my thighs. Sometimes it feels like there is a catch or something out of place that causes additional pain. I have changed my seating position, and taken the muscle relaxers, and treat myself to extra breaks during to alleviate the pain with varying success depending on the day or who knows why?
Thanks for all the good responses, I am keeping them all in mind.I just wanted to know how common this was or could be and if there is anything anyone found to help relieve the pain in the meantime before medical treatment as I know from the research that is not a medical emergency so I am not in panic mode, but I will visit the doctor soon.

QUESTION:
Lower back pain (inj), no sleep, swollen ankles and high HR- BP fine, Fibroids and possible diabetes- help?
I know I sound like a mess- too much stress, no sleep- 40 yr old mother of 9 month old angel son- bery active- likes to be held. I fell like I am falling apart physically- I know I am overweight and out of shape- emergency C-section of 3 month early preemie and 82 days in NICU- then PPD for 2 months when he cam home- How can I get back on track and be around for the long haul with my son- husband is working full-time and does not need to know all this is going on but I am starting to break physically and hope it is not too late to fix me! Oh yeah- my husband (4 yrs younger) wants me to have another baby – I need to have the fibroids removed before I conceive and I am worried I will not be healthy enough to have the surgery….TG for my son- he is so sweet and innocent- he deserves to have a healthy Mom!-
ANSWER:
I hate to say this but this is why women should have children younger our bodies are more durable then. I definetly would not have another child you may not make it thtough this time and you need to explain that to your husband. The risks for you and your unborn are doubled as soon as you reach 30, so at forty they must be ridiculous. YOur husband has a right to know everything. That is what marriage is about you need to be open with him. Your body may be falling apart but so are your hormones. You sound postpartem. Even if your child is 9 monthes with my first I had it for 14 monthes. You need to talk to your doctor or a therapist personally I recommend group therapy because it makes you feel normal again knowing that so many other women are going through similar situations. Also take walks to the park or around a local mall even when you don’t feel up to it, you need to make yourself be active. It will increase your energy, you’ll lose weight and meet interesting people.

QUESTION:
I am 6 weeks pregnant and have some lower left abdominal pain because of fibroids. Is it dangerous?
My ultrasound shows 3 big 7-9 cm fibroids in my lower uterus, left and right side. I had no pain before but since three days I experience some pain in left side.No back pain or bleeding is there. I am very much worried that I should not have a miscarriage. Is my baby is growing? This is my first pregnancy and I am 29 years old.-
ANSWER:
Hi, I’m 27 years old and I have same situation like you. I have many ( around 30) different size fibroids inside my uterus and I’m 29 weeks pregnant. My fibroids are as big as size of 20 weeks pregnancy. I’m already huge.
I had no pain during my pregnancy but i had some bleeding when I was 12 weeks pregnant, I had a surgery in 2005 to remove fibroids and now I have pain on the previous stitch. Other then that I don’t have serious problem.
I think your situation is much better then mine. I think you need to take rest and follow doctor’s advice. Don’t do any hard work. take a lot of vegetables, fruits and nutritious food. take folic acid, calcium and vitamin supplement. If you do these your baby wont have any vitamin deficiency.
I believe you will be alright.
I wish you all the best. Take care.
