What To Do About Vaginal Odor – 5 Simple Tips Towards Freshness

If you are wondering what to do about vaginal odor, there are a number of simple steps to get you back on the road to freshness. Very often, women who suffer from this problem do so for months or even years on and off and the reason is that they never cure the underlying issues.

Vaginal odor is usually caused by a combination of primary and secondary factors and it is often difficult to isolate just what the cause has been in an individual. Causes can be very varied, including overwashing, a change of sexual partner, using an IUD, douching, a poor diet, smoking or even just using perfumed soaps around the vagina.

Such a small part of the body can be responsible for a very pungent smell and it can be so bad that it is noticeable by work colleagues, family and even passers-by. It can be excruciatingly embarrassing, but lets see what you can do:-

1. Stop washing too much as this can upset the natural balance within the vagina. Wash just once a day, using unperfumed soap

2. Never douche as this removes protective bacteria, allowing harmful bacteria to flourish

3. Change sanitary protection regularly, even when the flow is light

4. Make use of panty pads. Wear them to absorb some of the discharge. They can absorb a surprisingly large amount and “lock in” the odor a little. You can change them regularly throughout the day. If you are wondering what to do about vaginal odor, these can be a great help if you’re out and about

5. Avoid panties made from synthetic fabrics as these trap in warmth and moisture-the perfect conditions for the growth of bacteria. Stick to cotton instead as this allows air to circulate. Also, don’t wear tight-fitting trousers or pantyhose

By far the biggest cause of bad vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis. This very common condition affects thousands of women worldwide each year and can be harmful if left untreated for periods of time. If you would like to know what to do about vaginal odor, a good starting point would be to try the tips above and look at some natural strategies for treating bacterial vaginosis.

  1. QUESTION:
I am schedule for a hysteronomy soon to have large fibroids removed. The fibroids make my?
stomach enlarge (look like 6-7 months prego)!! Its been a long time with pain, prolonged heavy periods, lots of pads! And I am anemic cause of the prolonged periods (heavy bleeding) Those of you have gone through this I want to hear from you. Did you lose any of your hair during this process of them giving you medicine or the hysteronomy? I heard you can lose some hair but was not told what brought about this effect! And will my stomach appear any smaller after this surgery since now the fibroids have me looking 6-7 months prego????!!!!
I was told I needed the hysteronomy cause I have one large fibroid and 6-7 smaller ones they have enlarged my uterous tremendously! And hysteronomy would remove the fibroids and the uterous, this way the fibriods would not return. What is Myomectomy?

    • ANSWER:
i’m sorry to ask but can u give some more information please. how many fibroids do u have? why are u getting a hysterectomy, which will remove ur entire uterus (sometimes all reproductive organs if radical is done), and not a myomectomy to remove the fibroids only? there are also other treatments (uae, meds, etc), a hysterectomy seems a bit extreme.

please don’t misunderstand my questions/statements. i have 3 uterine fibroids & thankfully, at this time, i do not have any of the symptoms other than the enlarged uterus (mine is 16cm) w/some periods of heavy bleeding. my back pain has increased some but no where near where i require any type of surgery.

i do know ur stomach will go down. it’s ur uterus that is enlarged & protruding. once the uterus is removed, the stomach will go down. two of my friends each had myomectomies to remove their respective fibroids but left their uteruses. a/f removal, their stomachs, which were as large as ur’s, returned to normal b/c their uteruses returned to their normal pear shaped size.

ok this is a little weird but like most human being i explored my body. and what i found was a large mass in my vagina area i guess not in my uterus. but i do not know what it is and it scares me. I have had sex before but my partner and i are free of STD’s I’ve never noticed it before but recently it has gotten bigger and bigger. i cant exactly say i have had pain during intercourse because i have not had it since this happened. I have this type of uh mucus i guess that comes from my vagina. idk how to explain it. pI’ve looked up fibroids and std’s but i still dont know. what do you think it is?

    • ANSWER:
If it is not in your vagina it may be your clitoris that is enlarging due to hormonal changes after sex starts .

  5. QUESTION:
Questions about Fibroid Tumors in uterus?
I am anemic and have been on an iron supplement since August (5 months). I went back to the dr 3 weeks ago because I started feeling really tired and weak again, and my periods have gotten worse and worse. I thought maybe my hemoglobin was low again. My dr did blood work and my iron was fine so she referred me to my gynecologist. After doing the exam (which was more painful than ever) he told me that he wanted me to come back for an ultrasound because he thinks I have fibroid tumors in my uterus. Now I realize these are questions I should have asked my dr but I was kind of overwhelmed and couldn’t think of these questions at the time. I have done some research online but I can’t find the answers I’m looking for. Can fibroids cause a mucous like discharge? Can they cause a slightly extended stomach? I am 5’5″ and 120 lbs and I’m very thin but I look like I am pregnant or have a small beer belly. Could the pain from my exam had been caused by fibroids? Could the dr have felt them during the exam? Could the cramps or pains I’ve been having even when I don’t have my period be caused by the fibroids? Can fibroids be a cause of anemia? He also told me about a new procedure called NovaSure. Has anyone had this done? And if I do have fibroids and have to have a hysterectomy what is the recovery period? Thank you in advance?
I realize that you may not know the answers to all of these questions, but even if you answer one it will help!
