Medical research is yet to identify the exact cause of fibroids. This makes it difficult to treat fibroid. The mere thought of fibroids surgery scares most women. However considering that uterine tumors are usually benign and rarely life threatening, surgical options must be considered only in extreme cases where the symptoms of fibroids are severe and unbearable.

In this article I am going to share remedies for natural treatment of fibroids. Basically nature cure for fibroids concentrates on the following

a) Decreasing the estrogen overload in the body. Research has indicated that fibroid tumors get aggravated by an excess of estrogen in the body. Hence fibroids can be shrunk simply by getting the estrogen levels back into balance.

b) Secondly a lot of importance is given by naturopaths to liver detoxification for treatment of fibroids. This is because estrogen mimicking substances often become locked in the liver and actually fuel the growth of fibroids. These substances are derived from environmental toxins and pesticide residues. Natural remedies like fasting and herbs such as milk thistle are made use for liver detoxification. At the same time foods which have a calming effect on uterine tumors because of their anti inflammatory properties like oats are recommended as part of daily intake.

c) Women in dead end jobs or relationships are usually emotionally strained. Emotions also play a great role in our well being. Research has indicated that emotional factors can also contribute to the growth of fibroids. Hence calming the nerves with the help of meditation, yoga and visualization techniques is recommended as part of natural fibroid treatment plans.

The absence of effective natural methods to treat fibroids led a renowned herbalist to develop an online product with the aim to help and reach out to maximum number of women suffering from fibroids. Since fibroids are rarely life threatening it would be worthwhile to go in for natural treatment of fibroids before you consider fibroids surgery and modern medicines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
are there any women out there who have had a myomectomy for uterine fibroids? have to get one and am nervous!?
i want to have a baby in a few years, and was told the myomectomy was the only was to have fibroids removed and preserve fertility. i am so nervous! have any women out there who have had a myomectemy and delivered babies? thanks for yout time

    • ANSWER:
My doctor told me the same thing. I had an intramural fibroid the size of a grapefruit in the back wall of my uterus. My doctor told me that an abdominal myomectomy was the only way to go. I was really scared, but everything turned out great. The doctor took out two additional fibroids that were not detectable on ultrasound. I was in the hospital a total of three days. From what I hear, it was very much like a C-section (my mother in law works in labor and delivery). One year later, everything is clear and I am trying to get pregnant. The doctor sees no reason why I shouldn’t be able to. The only thing is that any birth will have to be via C-section, because my uterine muscles may not be strong enough to endure labor.

  2. QUESTION:
With uterine fibroids, which procedure is better – laparoscopic or regular myomectomy?
My main concern is to preserve fertility. I don’t care too much about a possible scar or blood loss.

    • ANSWER:
From what I know it depends on the location of the fibroids, outside of the uterus, inside of the vagina, or on the wall of the uterus?

If on wall you need myomectomy. If outside laparoscopic. Because you cannot pierce the uterus and can’t be removed with laparoscope if on wall of uterus.

If main concern is fertility don’t do the uterine embolization, it may induce menopause.

How big are they, how many?

  3. QUESTION:
    Ever had uterine fibroids removed?
I’m having surgery soon – and I’m a nervous reck! Has anyone ever had a laparotomy with uterine myomectomy to remove a large fibroid? What can I expect for surgery and recovery? Any advice to calm my nerves – I’ve never had surgery before!

    • ANSWER:
You won’t feel a thing during the procedure, that I can assure you.
      Laparotomy procedure
A laparotomy is performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon makes a large, single cut through the skin and muscle of the abdomen, so that the underlying organs can be clearly viewed. The exposed organs are then carefully examined. Once diagnosed, the problem may be fixed on the spot (for example, a perforated bowel may be repaired). In other cases, a subsequent operation may be needed. Once the laparotomy is complete, the muscle of the abdominal wall and the overlying skin are sutured (sewn) closed.

      Immediately after the operation
After the operation, you can expect:
Your temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and wound site are carefully monitored.
You may have a drain inserted at the wound site.
A small tube may have been passed through your nose and into your stomach to help drain stomach secretions for a day or two. This rests your digestive tract as it heals.
A urinary catheter is inserted to drain off urine. This should be removed a day or so following theatre.
You are on intravenous fluids, as you may not be allowed to eat for a few days.
Pain relief should be given regularly, as ordered by your doctor, to keep you comfortable.
As soon as possible, you are encouraged to do your deep breathing and leg exercises.
You are assisted out of bed the day after the operation (all going well). Early walking is important, as it reduces the risks of blood clots and chest infections.
You have daily wound care and observation, and advice on caring for your wound at home.
Medication is given to you on discharge.

      http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/Surgery-for-chronic-pelvic-pain

There will be some pain for a few days. How many days? This is totally personal, each woman has a diferent level of enduring pains. You will get painkillers and I suggest as long as you feel pain or discomfort and weakness or tirdeness, just listen to your body. You body will signal you when you are ready to resume your daily activities. Good luck on the operation, its a relative small operation so take some mild herbal remedy to calm yourself until the operation is due (Rescue Remedy is one I favor – these are drops).

  4. QUESTION:
    Two Uterine Fibroids….now what?
I just found out on Friday that I have an enlarged uterus because of two fibroids. Before the doctor sent me to get an pelvic ultrasound she told me that if I do have fibroids and if they aren’t bothering me we don’t have to do anything. After it was confirmed that I do in fact have fibroids I started putting everything together….extremely heavy cycles, bladder leakage, and lower pelvic pain a week before my cycle. With my sister having endometriosis and my mom having fribroids and with both of them ending up having to have hysteroectomies later in life, I want to go ahead and have the surgery (myomectomy) done. I don’t want to be prescribed medicine that is supposed to shrink them. I have researched my options and the best option I see so far is having the myomectomy if I plan on having children in the future. How can I get my doctor to agree that surgery is the best option since I didn’t tell her of my symptoms (heavy cycles, bladder leakage, and pelvic pain) when she intially asked me?
I got a call from the doctor yesterday and she told me that one fibroid was in the middle of my uterus and was the size of a peach. The other fibroid is 7 cm. The myomectomy is what she suggested but, the recovery time is 4-6.

    • ANSWER:
Of course to preserve fertility you can’t do a histerectomy. You didnt’ say where fibroids are located in the uterus and how big they are. The size is an issue when you get a myomectomy. You may need to have them shrinked with Lupron which is a horror. The biggest I had was 5.5cm or so and I had to take Lupron to reduce them and not lose my uterus.

  5. QUESTION:
Is there a natural remedy for uterine fibroids?
I don’t have bothersome symptoms, but I have 6 large fibroids. I want to get pregnant in the future. My doctor said I’ll have no trouble getting pregnant, but I’m likely to have trouble during pregnancy. I keep myomectomy as a last resourt. Cause there are so many possible complications like adhesions and having to have a C-section. I want my body to get rid of them naturally. Any advise? Like exercise or fasting? I know that fibroids a hormone-dependent. I also know that girls lose their period if they fast long enough. Will that do anything?

    • ANSWER:
I answered your other question and seeing this makes me feel for you as it must be awful fearing you may not be able to have kids.

I couldn’t find too much but I did search and found this

The great Dr John R Christopher said burdock helps fibroids..if taking use an organic tincture..the usual dose is two dropperfuls (60 drops)..3-5 times a day..I would use 5 times a day. a dropperful is what remains in the eyedropper of a tincture bottle when you squeeze the bulb, inset into the herbal tincture formula, release eyedropper top..what remains in the drop is called a dropperful and looks about half full..this eliminates the need to count drops. a few off will not hurt on herbs.

A good brand is herbpharm..they have a good burdock blend. Burdock is not harmful..it is a blood cleanser and sold in some places as a food,.

      http://www.herballegacy.com/search.php?zoom_query=fibroids
      http://www.herballegacy.com/Light_Chemical.html

I once read his woman’s herbal years ago but can’t remember if he addressed fibroids there but it may be worth a shot..I got it from interlibrary loan.

      it is also sold here–

      http://www.amazon.com/Every-Womans-Herbal-John-Christopher/dp/1879436108

Also curezone has a lot of excellent health info..here is some of the things on fibroid there.

      http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&client=pub-0846790371736460&cof=FORID:1%3BGL:1%3BLBGC:336699%3BLC:%230000ff%3BVLC:%23663399%3BGFNT:%230000ff%3BGIMP:%230000ff%3BDIV:%23336699%3B&domains=curezone.com&sitesearch=curezone.com&oe=ISO-8859-1&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=fibroids&spell=1

so I would revcommend this book and the ons by linda page and balche in the other questions for hormone balancing and the burdock and further research on curezone and elsewhere to trying to dissolve the fibroids.

Also maybe Dr Richard schulze’s incurables formula may help..(push enter and go to the incurables program..he is the one with the female herbal formula and said he never failed to help infertile woman or women with female problems who wanted to have a child fail..I bet he used his incurables formula with his female herbs..also see his index in the catalog found at herbdoc.com
