    • ANSWER:
i would wait and retest in a few days.. faint lines are hard to decipher.. you will either start or a test may show a darker line in a couple of days..

  2. QUESTION:
could this be fibroids? could i be pregnant?
my period is a week and a half late now. my husband and i are trying to have a baby..so i got a little excited, but when i took a test this past monday, it was negative. fibroids run in the family, but i never had any problems and my tests always came back normal. i havent gone yet this year, but im definitely scheduling a test now. this past friday, i had a little tiny bit of blood show up, followed by a tiny bit of brown that faded away into nothing. i thought it could have been spotting or breakthrough bleeding, but now im not sure any more. i’ve been having a bit of brown discharge, a little bit of abdominal pain that feels like cramps and the brown discharge is back. i’ve been rather bloated lately, probably too much info, but a little constipated) just starting tonight (i work 3rd shift) i have bouts of feeling sick to my stomach. about 10 minutes ago, i could have swore i was about to lose my cookies.

some pregnancy symptoms overlap fibroid symptoms…someone help???
im only 24,from what i understand, fibroids shoudnt show up till around 30 or so if i even do get them..thats when my mother had a couple. my husband is convinced im pregnant…i hope he’s right.

    • ANSWER:
The chances of it being a fibroid is low. It just might be a delay in your periods and it does sound like you might be pregnant. Slight bleeding in pregnancy is normal but then it has to be brought into a doctors notice, you might need to relax in case you are pregnant. visit the doctor as soon as possible and get it confirmed. as for the test, the test can be negetive even 15 days after the actual conception. you can strongly believe in it after one month of conception. let us know your results.

  3. QUESTION:
    Hysterectomy at 31?
I think I have a fibroid tumor and have an appt with my Dr in November, and have heard the most common cure for this is a total hysterectomy. I am not sure I want this at my age (31) because I have not totally ruled out the idea of more children. Also, I have heard a hysterectomy can destroy my sex drive, which is usually at 100%. I don’t want this problem to effect my ability to have children or my sex life with my husband. I do have most or all of the symptoms of a fibroid tumor and my mother had to have a hysterectomy because of this. Are there any alternative methods to treat this problem?

    • ANSWER:
Uterine Fibroid Embolization Procedure aka Uterine Artery Embolization Procedure

Uterine fibroid embolization (also known as uterine artery embolization) represents a fundamentally new approach to the treatment of fibroids. Embolization is a minimally invasive means of blocking the arteries that supply blood to the fibroids. It is a procedure that uses angiographic techniques (similar to those used in heart catheterization) to place a catheter into the uterine arteries. Small particles are injected into the arteries, which results in the blockage of the arteries feeding the fibroids. This technique is essentially the same as that used to control bleeding that occurs after birth or pelvic fracture, or bleeding caused by malignant tumors. The procedure was first used in fibroid patients in France as a means of decreasing the blood loss that occurs during myomectomy. It was discovered that after the embolization, while awaiting surgery, many patient’s symptoms went away and surgery was no longer needed. The blockage of the blood supply caused degeneration of the fibroids and this resulted in resolution of their symptoms. This has led to the use of this technique as a stand-alone treatment for symptomatic fibroids.

  4. QUESTION:
Will a doctor advise trying to get pregnant if a woman has a submucus fibroid tumor?
I’m writing a story about a woman who has a uterine fibroid tumor (totally benign, but causing all kinds of problems). She will have to have a hysterectomy within the next year or so because of all of the problems the tumor is causing. She wants to have children some day, so I want to know if her doctor would advise her to start trying to get pregnant before her symptoms get too bad.

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think a doctor would advise that. It’s too risky for the baby.

  5. QUESTION:
Could I have a fibroid tumor?
I am a 20 year old female. Since January I’ve had chronic stomach pain below the belly button. It comes and goes, but at times it’s so bad I can’t walk or stand. I’ve been to the hospital twice because of it. They’ve done a CT, endoscopy, stomach biopsy, colonoscopy, and colon biopsy. The Doctors say there is nothing wrong that they can see with my GI tract, and my pain does not seem to be food related.

My mom just found a fibroid tumor in her uterus. A friend of mine brought up that a fibroid could also cause my symptoms. I don’t want to get too worried about this, as I’m only 20, and that seems a bit young, and I don’t know if a fibroid would show up on a CT or not. Please let me know if this is a legitimate fear or if I should see a gyno right away.

    • ANSWER:
CT’s should show fibroids, or ultrasounds as well. However, if it simply an abdominal CT then you wouldn’t get a great view of the pelvis, and it could miss it.

However, fibroids can get quite big in women of reproductive age, can cause heavy bleeding and pain along with menstruation. Usually the pattern of pain is related to periods, but it can occur in between as well.

I would still see a gyno though, pelvic pain, either from fibroids, endometroisis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic adhesions, or other causes can cause symptoms that look like GI symptoms.
