Removing Fibroids From Uterus

Natural Treatment for Uterine Fibroids

Natural treatment for uterine fibroids is an option most certainly worth considering if you are suffering from this condition. Although doctors say they do not know the exact cause, this is because there is very rarely just “one” cause, with fibroids being caused by a combination of different facts which all subtly interact.

Fibroids are not caused by a single virus, bacteria or disease and because of this, they cannot be treated by conventional medication. Hormonal treatment has been shown to shrink fibroids, but this can only ever be a temporary measure and is used prior to surgery to prevent excessive bleeding. Side effects from hormonal treatment include osteoporosis, night sweats and hot flashes, dry, thinning skin and dryness of the vagina and thinning out of the tissues. It is worth noting that once the treatment is stopped, the fibroids will quickly grow back.

Surgery to remove the fibroids is an option which many women consider. This is very drastic and like hormonal treatment, there is nothing to prevent the fibroids growing back. In addition, all surgery comes with inherent risks, such as anesthesia risks, bleeding and infection. It can also be painful too and have a significant recovery time. A total hysterectomy will prevent uterine fibroids returning, but this really is an operation of last resort and should only be considered when all other options have been discounted.

Natural treatment for uterine fibroids will partly focus on the amount of estrogen in the body as this is known to fuel fibroid growth. Estrogen levels are higher in women who are overweight and so steps should be taken to reach and maintain a healthy body mass. In addition, there is evidence that certain pollutants can mimic the action of estrogen in the body and is difficult to remove. Sources can include animal fats from animals who have been fed on non-organic produce and fruits and vegetables which have been sprayed with pesticides. A good liver detox can help remove toxins from the body and this is one of a combination of strategies which may be recommended.

Another theory is that some women develop uterine fibroids from having a condition whereby the body is simply prone to inflammation and that fibroids develop as a result of this. It is therefore recommended that women consider eating a good, natural healthy diet which includes foods which are naturally anti-inflammatory such as hops, oats, cumin and rosemary.

Fibroids are a condition which respond very well to natural remedies and they are an ideal condition to treat because as they are so rarely life-threatening. It makes complete sense to try out a natural treatment for uterine fibroids before resorting to surgery or any of the hormonal drugs which can cause their own side effects.

    • ANSWER:
Meds may be a start, but may not really remove fibroids permanently. Check below link and have a look at the treatment options.

There are less invasive procedures e.g. hysteroscopic resection that may be worth considering.

In any event, your doctor will obviously advise on best course of treatment.

      Good luck.

  2. QUESTION:
Hi, anyone out there from Ohio. I am soon to have an hysterectomy to have fibroids and my uterus removed?
Should be able to keep ovaries. I am in the Cincinnati Ohio area. Tell me about your TAH. I need encourgament I am almost at the point to cancel my surgery date which is in 3 weeks.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi
I’m not from Ohio, but am a writer about women’s health issues-I have written hundreds of articles on fibroids!
Have you had any thoughts at all about trying natural treatments to shrink your fibroids? I know it’s not an easy task but if you are committed, it can definitely work. I guess it will largely depend on how large your fibroids are though and what problems they are causing.
If you go ahead with surgery, you should certainly do everything possible to keep your ovaries, although it’s no guarantee that you won’t go into an early menopause as sometimes the shock can send women over the edge. Additionally, women who have had hysterectomies do traditionally go through the menopause(even when ovaries are intact) earlier than those who still have their uterus.

I assume you’ve looked at all the less invasive procedures, such as ablation and myectomy etc?

For more info, you might like to look at my website, How To Shrink Fibroids- there are details of all the various procedures etc on there. Good luck.

  4. QUESTION:
I have had 4 different types of tumors removed from different body parts/bones. Could these all be related??
Giant cell tumor with bone grafting from my ankle bone at 16yrs, Fibroids from my uterus at 30, small “blood vessell” tumor from my finger at 33 and now at 37 a “reactive” benign tumor that exploded in my hand and attached itself to the tendon. Not sure if there are tests to scan for tumors throughout the body. Any diseases that anyone is aware of that can cause different tumors in the body? And does anyone know what a “reactive” biopsy reading would mean? HELP!

    • ANSWER:
They most definately could be. Check with a doctor pronto. Sounds like some form of cancer to me.

  5. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever had to undergo a hysteroscopic myomectomy?
I’m having the surgery done June 2 to remove a large fibroid inside my uterus. It was found when I discovered I was pregnant and caused a miscarriage. I have already had an abdominal myomectomy to remove fibroids from the outside of my uterus (2 years ago), but am looking for anyone who has personal experience with the hysteroscopic surgery–info on recovery time, how painful etc. Please only personal actual experiences need reply.

    • ANSWER:
I am 4 weeks into recovering from a hysteroscopy & laparotomy myomectomy for a fibroid that was very large from the inside. I have a c section cut which isn’t overly painful, I was got up out of bed the next morning. I have had 4 weeks off work (recommended 4 to 6 wks by surgeon). within one week I was moving about quite freely just not doing anything major. Im guessing another 2 weeks and I should be starting to have life back to normal. Anyway’s no overly painful and as for the recovery time everyone is different but it is really only such a short time in the big picture, that you will be over it in no time. Good luck with your op hope it all goes well for you. 🙂
