Endometrial Ablation – Tackling Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Endometrial ablation is the surgical procedure to ablate the endometrial lining of the woman’s uterus suffering from excessive bleeding. Woman who have prolonged menstrual cycles or who do not wish to undergo hysterectomy have the option of endometrial ablation technique.
The abnormal bleeding may be due to a non-cancerous (benign) condition. However, endometrial ablation surgery does not suffice as a treatment of bleeding due to cancer of the uterus, since the cancerous cells may have grown deeper into the tissue which cannot be removed by the procedure. It is very important to know that endometrial ablation can only be performed on non-pregnant women who do not plan to get pregnant in future. This treatment should not be the first resort and should be considered when medical and hormonal therapies have been insufficient.
The endometrial ablation procedure requires a biopsy before the surgery to determine the presence of cancer, if any. The thinner the endometrium, the higher is the chance for successful ablation and hence, hormonal therapy is given in the weeks before the procedure to shrink the endometrium. The procedure is then begun by dilating the cervical opening to make space in the uterine cavity and the uterine lining is destroyed by laser beam, electricity, freezing, heating, or microwave energy.

Pregnancy and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding?
I was wondering if anyone out there suffered from abnormal uterine bleeding and then at some point was able to become pregnant? Where you placed on medication? Taken herbs to regulate hormones? Any input would be greatly appreciated-
ANSWER:
My uterine walls bleed lightly off and on for ABSOLUTELY no reason. Every time I had to get a ob/gyn check up the new doctor insisted running every test available and it was always the same…all test came back negative and they never knew why.When I got pregnant last year I still bleed and even more when I worked out. The doctor told me to stop working out and rest as much as possible with my legs propped. The ER ran test on me and all those came back negative. I continued to bleed just not as much as when I ran during pregnancy.
I wasn’t placed on any medications and when I tried to get pregnant I didn’t take any medications (prescriptions/over counter). I did change my diet to eating healthy whole grain foods.
Why not call your doctors office and ask the nurse for advice?

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding?
Ive been having Abnormal Uterine Bleeding and my Dr gave me a prescription for Provera to stop the bleeding. Today is the 3rd day that I have taken this pill. The Dr said the bleeding should stop In a couple of days from the first pill taken, but It still hasnt subsided. Anyone have the same experiences? I need to know if anyone has been put on the Provera pill to help with abnormal uterine bleeding! and how it worked for them!!-

yes!! it is so annoying im dealing with the same thing now i was bleeding for 3 weeks i went to the ER and i was diagnosed with abnormal uterine bleeding due to a hormonal imbalance they prescribed provera i took it for 10 days the bleeding slowed down the 2nd day the 4th day i started spotting then 2 days after i took the last pill it was like i was having a regular period. so im thinking everything is cool now, the bleeding stopped for a week now im bleeding again!! not heavy no cramping either. i went to my family doc she prescribed birth control to regulate my periods but i wanted to see if the provera was effective and i didnt want 2 keep spending money so i got a pap smear and pelvic exam everything was fine the doc says but i dont know if this is normal i cant find nothing on the internet explaining the effects its really putting a damper on my sex life and its making me crazy but update me on your progress im glad im not alone. but i hope you get better and god bless!!

I am 33 yrs old female, I have a 2.5 yr old toddler. Trying to conceive the second child.I have been getting pain on the left side of my stomach due to acidity, sore stomach, intolerable to caffeine, loose stools.
I always had periods every 45 days, recently I started abnormal bleeding frequently, having light bleeding all the time, getting periods every 22 days. So my Dr gave me birth control pills to stop bleeding and in next month I am going to have Clomid to get Pregnant.
Do u guys think I can have a baby with this abnormal bleeding and clomid? Any successful stories?Do u suggest me wait for couple of months, then take clomid or is it ok to take next month itself.

Abnormal uterine bleeding and fibroids?
My 48 year old mom’s been bleeding for over a year now. Her periods became irregular. Sometimes she can’t even tell if it’s her period or just abnormal bleeding. We thought it was menopause at first, which may have something to do with it. But she got some tests done and was diagnosed with fibroids. But they didn’t need treatment at that time according to the doctor. She’s become anemic since then coz of the bleeding. Sometimes it’s very little and sometimes it’s really heavy with many clots coming out. Now, i’m thinking she should get treatment for this, it’s really disturbing sometimes.Can fibroids get more serious if not treated?

If not treated they can get very big. If they get too big the best is really to get a hysterectomy if she is done having children. So I would have her go to a gynecologist and maybe talk about this option. There is also uterine artery embolization. I have attached the website for you to look at that.
